Usability testing is a research method that puts design into the hands of the people who use the product today, or may use it in the future. It is intended to replicate the first experience the user would have with the new or redesigned product, and identify areas that prove difficult to utilize or comprehend, and to ensure that product goals are being met.
Usability testing gives a team the chance to finally put their new or redesigned product in front of real users for feedback. Designers go into testing with specific goals in mind to validate design decisions in order to make any necessary adjustments to the design before sending everything off to the developer.
