Designers perform a brand review to learn how the brand is applied currently and identify future areas needing improvement.
Brand reviews analyze the brand associated with a product to understand how the product, through it’s parent brand, is communicated outside the company. The analysis covers brand messaging, logos and other marks, and visual styling including typography, iconography, photography, and other graphic elements specific to how they’re applied within the product context.
This review can additionally include positioning that captures the intended perception of the product, which helps direct the product look and feel going forward.
Brand reviews are an essential step in the discovery process, particularly when your design must align to the current look and feel of the client’s existing products.
