A heuristic review evaluates an existing product on general design heuristics and best practices, looking at the interaction and visual design and comparing against standards for usability and accessibility.
During a heuristic review (also called a UX review or a site review), the current design is evaluated to analyze choices affecting trust and credibility, site structure and navigation, flow-through processes, rich interaction, page focus, online forms, and error prevention.
The final deliverable for a heuristic review includes both tactical recommendations for specific UI fixes as well as strategic recommendations for bigger shifts to the interface.
